Project Summery
Danish furniture is highly known for its sleek and sophisticated designs, which can easily pair and complement any interior. In the 1960s, plastic chairs became highly popular for their lightweight, low cost, and clean look. Today, single-use plastics have become a threat to our world.
The Reclaimed Exhibit illustrates an eco-conscious push toward material reuse. The exhibit displays various Danish-designed chairs created using recycled plastic; the About A Eco Collection, the N02 Recycle Collection, and the Nobody and the Elemntaire chairs.
The structure of the exhibit takes inspiration from the simultaneous shelled chairs. The site structure acts as a continuous strip of curved recycled plastic overlapping and weaving with itself while creating open and closed pockets where visitors can reconnect with the outdoors while also being protected by the shade.
Visitors are able to learn and understand how unused materials can be utilized to create structural seating. The central cafe allows visitors to take a break amid the exhibition and discuss their ideas and thoughts on reclaiming materiality. After the duration of the exhibition, the site pieces can be taken apart to become multi-use pavilions with in the city for public use.
